- Usage & Care
The weaves of the Yakan Tennun community in Basilan serve as a testament to the ingenuity of the tribe. Woven in a backstrap loom, the weaver usually weaves under their traditional houses made of stilts to protect them from weather conditions. The Yakan Bungasma pattern highlights the community's connection with nature, showing patterns that appear to replicate the inspiration from the world around them from dawen- dawen (leaves) to pako (wings).
Colors may vary slightly from the photo. Material content may also vary depending on the community that wove the fabric.Weave Yakan
